Most artists realize their passion at an early age. Ledan didn’t see his true purpose in life until he started his MBA. Today Fanch Ledan art auctions sell limited edition prints of this French born, self taught, late bloomer. Born in Brittany, France in 1949 as Francois Ledan, Ledan was the son of a doctor and dentist. With such well-educated parents, Ledan was bound to be quite the intellectual. He studied in Paris and earned three bachelors by the time he was nineteen. This included a bachelors in mathematics, science, and philosophy. The beauty of the Paris culture was what initially drew Ledan towards his passion for art. After his studies in Paris, Ledan went on to get his MBA at Sacramento State University. There he met some artists and painters through his sister who inspired him to start drawing and painting on his own. Upon graduating from his MBA, most of his fellow classmates went on the work in the corporate world. Ledan on the other hand, was offered his first art exhibition after he showed some of his compositions to a San Francisco gallery director. Realizing that art could actually be a career, Ledan pursued art fulltime. He continued to live in California while travelling to various European countries for inspiration. He exhibited his art around the world.
