Thomas Leung was born in Kowloon, Hong Kong. The son of renowned artist H. Leung, Thomas's exposure to the art world began when he was a little boy. Watching his father create artwork as a youth was the first time he knew that he too would some day be an artist. While in school, Thomas often won awards for his drawings. By the time he was a teenager, he was exhibiting works at the same Gallery in Hong Kong that his father’s works were shown.

Leung’s family eventually moved to the United States, where Thomas returned to college to major in art. It was here that he developed his own style and ways to express himself artistically. His works have a dreamlike quality and are filled with vibrant color.
