Born in 1959 in New Mexico, Ronnie Lott made a name for himself as a versatile player in the National Football League; over his fifteen-season professional career, Lott served as a cornerback, a free safety, and a strong safety. Lott attended the University of Southern California and his performance with the Trojans earned him both a place in the College Football Hall of Fame and national acclaim. Drafted eighth overall by the San Francisco 49ers in 1981, Lott continued to soar as a player. While he spent the majority of his career with the 49ers, he also played with the Los Angeles Raiders, the New York Jets, and the Kansas City Chiefs before retiring in 1995. During this extensive career, Lott earn a number of accolades and honors, including ten Pro Bowl selections, nine All-Pro selections, and four Super Bowl Championship rings. He also earned the rare honor of being named to two of the NFL All-Decade Teams (1980s and 1990s). Lott was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
