Alice Nathan-Barret was raised on a cattle ranch in the Sierra Mountains of California. The rural western setting has proved to have an influence on her style of painting. She enjoys conveying her love for nature on canvas in an attempt to share her imagery with viewers.

Nathan-Barret has had an extensive education at Cal State Bakersfield, California Polytechnic College at San Luis Obispo, California as well as The California Art Institute in Los Angeles. She has been fortunate to study with many recognizable artists.

As part of her connection with the Society of Illustrators, Alice has had the opportunity to visit South East Asia and much of the United States. This was largely by the request of The United States Federal Art Program. She was responsible for gathering documentary paintings for the permanent educational collections at the Smithsonian Institute, and Pentagon buildings in Washington D.C.

Alice Nathan-Barret is part of numerous artistic societies, and has been on the receiving end of numerous awards. Her art can be seen in many private collections as well as at exhibits throughout the United States.
