Antonio Dojer

Born in Cuba and raised during the economically, politically, and culturally tumultuous 1970s, Antonio Dojer observed the resilience of the human soul and the power necessary – and available within – to overcome such constraints. Dojer used dancing and drawing to escape from these troubles and to express his own feelings about it. It was only when he attended the San Alejandro School of Art that he decided to pursue it as a career. After Dojer finished graduate school, receiving a degree as a Master of Fine Arts, he moved to the United States in 1990. This was both a matter of escaping political oppression and of finding new experiences and inspiration for his art.

Dojer generally creates his art in series, painting each piece with stylistic variations and moods. He often works with mixed media, rich colors, and bold strokes to create a passion and rhythm he identifies with the his urban upbringing in Havana.
