Bonarenko was born in 1859 in Paltsevo village, Kursk Region. He studied at the Central Technical Drawing School in St. Petersburg. Since 1979 he has participated in Art Exhibitions. He painted in water colors, pencil drawing, pen drawing, and oil painting. He also worked as a portrait painter and black-and-white artist and he has held numerous personal exhibitions of his prolific works.
