Murano is a small group of islands that lie on the perimeter of the Adriatic Sea in the lagoon of Venice, approximately 3,000 meters north of the larger group of islands which makes up the city of Venice. During the 100 years between 1860 and 1960 the glass producers in the region of Murano became the world's leader in the production of decorative glass objects.
