Chen Yi was born in Korea in 1947. She moved to the United States in the 1980s. Her paintings are energetic and colorful, stylistically reminiscent of old Chinese Masters.
Her art has been exhibited with Lawrence Gallery, Suburban Picture Frame, and Gabo's Art Center.
