Born in 1974, Chris Oxenbury was captivated with the comedy of Richard Pryor, John Cleese, and the classic Laurel and Hardy. Though he studied graphic design and worked in the gaming industry, he truly wished that he could somehow make comedy part of his life’s work. When creating new worlds and characters for video games lost its allure, Oxenbury decided to become a full-time painter, and combine his love of comedy with his love of painting by paying homage, through art, to comedy icons both past and present.

Oxenbury has always enjoyed the art of stand-up comedy, considering it the ultimate performance art; he listens to comedy routines as he works. He is so inspired by comedy that Oxenbury recently decided to add “stand up comedian” to his resume.
