Christina Demusee

Los Angeles based artist Christina De Musee has been creating eye-popping, intriguingly larger-than-life masterpieces for years. She was the 1991 First Place recipient of the Armand Hammer Masters Award for Emerging Artists, and her artwork has been exhibited in such prestigious venues as the Norton Simon Museum, the Long Beach Museum, and the Monterey Peninsula Museum. Avid collectors of her work include Charlie Sheen, Malcolm McDowell, Roland Jofee, Tommy Chong, Valerie Landsberg, Jeffrey Ullman and Dinah Manoff.

De Musee explains her creative process: "I'm the kind of artist that would spend weeks and months in the studio happily immersed in a self-contained world of creativity, but there were also long periods of non-activity spent in quiet reflection and then suddenly, ideas would come in a cascade. All I had to do was harvest them out of the air and begin painting. Everything would fit into place- the image, the context, the colors, the composition. The artwork began to take on a life of it's own."

From giant faces, abstract meanderings and surrealistic imagery to bold shapes and deliberately calculated perfection, De Musee continues to explore a brilliant trajectory across, into and through the many fascinating realms of art.
