Claire Klarewicz-Okser

American Realism painter, Claire Klarewicz-Okser work depicts extraordinary moments hidden in everyday life. She was born in 1955 and now resides in Brooklyn New York. Klarewicz is known for her oil paintings that often depict the life of women in everyday scenarios. In an article published by the Los Angeles Times, written by Lean Ollman, the author states that Klarewicz "paints so well that her large canvases of women in domestic interiors have the physical presence of three-dimensional, theatrical tableaux." Klarewicz is able to highlight the intensity lived by her characters in quiet moments. Ollman also touches on an important element of Klarewicz paintings, as she often paints her women characters in what is now out of date feminine clothing. By doing so it can be interpreted as a way of giving her characters an elegant or classic qualities that are now a trademark for her.
