Danny Day
From an early age Danny Day was an avid drawer, spending the majority of his free time sketching everything from comic book heroes to portraits of people around him. Upon seeing his talent his mother and grandmother signed Danny up for a local painting class. At age 12, Danny learned the basics of applying paint to canvas, beginning with acrylics. While taking the class he developed a very advanced technique for such a young boy. After three months in the class Danny decided to take the next step himself. Inspired by a 1976 Leroy Neiman mural depicting the Olympics, Danny was inspired to create his own Olympic athlete montage. Danny sold his first painting that same year, which provided a springboard for his entrepreneurial spirit. After graduating from high school, He received a prestigious top-tier scholarship to Ohio's Columbus College of Art and Design as well as a number of other academic scholarships. He earned whatever money he needed to fund other expenses by selling his artworks. The Columbus College of Art and Design, being focused on directing students into the graphic arts, convinced Danny to major in Illustration, though his passion was in the Fine Arts. Danny graduated in 1986, and headed to California to become an illustrator. After obtaining an illustration agent, and waiting for the high profile illustration jobs he was certain would come his way, a different opportunity appeared. A local gallery took interest in exhibiting and marketing his original oil works, so Danny took the chance and was sprung into the art industry. His initial success ultimately turned into worldwide fame and recognition, and a lifelong career based on his passion. While his style and commitment to realism have remained constant, the topics and genres he has delved into are quite diverse and varied. From his long career of collaborating with world famous athletes, to his enchanting wildlife images, golf landscapes, and Romantic Realism, Danny’s art continues to inspire and amaze. From classically inspired oil paintings on canvas to commercial photography, Danny Day does it all with his own unmistakable style.
