Born in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1973, Dmity Giveiler decided at the young age of sixteen that he would spend his life as an artist. As a youth, he associated with artists of all styles and ages while training with local private teachers. In 1991 Giveiler began his formal training at a local art college; upon his graduation in 1996 he entered the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, where he completed his studies in 2002. When his formal art education was finished, Giveiler remained in this city known for its fine arts, celebrated museums, and grand architecture. He continued to study with and under some of Russia’s most talented painters, including Reikhet, Pimenov, Repin, and Blokhin, refining his own style at the same time. Giveiler’s signature style juxtaposes technical genius and cultural awareness, linking his contemporary art world with the powerful and evocative Russian heritage. While he continues to create remarkable paintings and exhibit them internationally, Giveiler is currently a professor at a school for children gifted in the arts in St. Petersburg.
