Erin Galvez

"I still find it remarkable, as an artist and a woman, that all of the experiences in my life, the small little things that have influenced me continue to find their way into my work. I find myself especially attracted to Asian art and crafts. I realize that those open drawers in my grandmother's jewelry box filled with cloisonne jewelry, as well as the Korean embroideries, Chinese antiques and Japanese prints in her home have played a necessary part in my perceptions of beauty." -Erin Galvez

Born in Carmichael, California, Erin Galvez knew from an early age that she wanted to be an artist. Throughout her childhood she was content drawing and expressing her creative and introspective nature. As she continued to grow more and more fascinated with art, she wondered how she would be able to create beautiful art that people would want to hang in their homes. In high school, after familiarizing herself with an art lithograph hanging in a friend's home, she knew what she was going to study in college.

Erin attended California State University, Sacramento and received her BA in studio art with an emphasis on printmaking. After college, she traveled to, and lived in, New York, Virginia, and Arizona. This opportunity to travel and experience different regions of the United States only aided in her hunger for knowledge and helped mold her artistic style. She eventually found her way back to the west coast, eager to start her career. Today Erin Galvez resides in Portland, Oregon.
