Glen Lake tells of his artistic childhood, in which he and his sibling would compete to see who could create a landscape faster without losing the realist elements of the art; Lake cites this practice as part of his formation as a spontaneous and direct artist. It was also through these contests that Lake’s artistic talent was recognized. His father soon insisted that the boy apply to a high school for the gifted, but before he had the chance a performing and visual arts school in Dallas approached him for enrollment. After he completed his high school career at that remarkable institution, Lake entered the Atlanta College of Art, where he studied painting and sculpture.

Much of Lake’s recent work is abstract and organic; it has been described as full of ‘constant, organic movement.’ Lake’s art is exhibited and collected all around the United States.
