Jacob Chayat was born in Isreal in 1939. He attended the Kibbutz Dafina An Autodidac school in 1951. Chayat went on to study graphics at the Technological Institute in Tel Aviv in 1959. In 1981 he initiated and founded the Artist's Association in Bat-Yam and served as the first chairman. From 1983-1987 he was the director of the Ben-Ari Museum in Bat-Yam.
