Jean Barton

Jean Barton graduated from Moore college of Art in Philadelphia, Penn., and was the recipient of The Widener Traveling Fellowship. Barton and her husband lived in Connecticut for many years while Jean taught art and painting classes locally, and held numerous private exhibitions. Following her husband’s death, Jean moved to NYC to take over his textile design studio, designing for such names as Leslie Fay, Liz Claiborne, Home Curtain, and Town and Country Linens. In 1989, after “retiring” to Long Beach Island, Barton returned to her interrupted painting career. Jean Barton was, at one time, a recognized member of the New Canaan Art Society, the Silvermine Guild of Artists, and the Stamford Art Society. She is currently a member of the Long Beach Island Foundation for the Arts and Sciences. Barton is also listed among the Who’s Who in American Art, American Women in Art, and Who’s Who in the East.
