Jesus Fuertes

Born in 1938, Jesus Fuertes has been enamored of the Fine Arts nearly his entire life. He is an historian of sorts, devoting years of study to the many diverse art forms and art movements that have made the world what it is today. Fuertes met Pablo Picasso in France at one point, and was inspired to delve deep into the world of neo-cubism, mixing geometric shapes with bright colors. Several of his most well-known works involve the use of dramatic shades of blue, earning him an intriguing moniker that very few select masters can own: "Painter of Blue."

After first showing his works in Berlin and New York, Fuertes won a top award in Rome for his "Torneo Medieval" creation in 1963. Some years later, he sought another change of scenery: in 1979 he landed in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 1979, then moved on to Miami, where he established a studio that year. With a career spanning more than 50 years, Fuertes is one of the art world's iconic figures.
