John Kollig’s grandmother, who painted portraits, provided him with his earliest creative inspiration. Kollig went on to study art in California and Michigan, earning an M.F.A. degree in 1996. Drawing from a diverse pool of influences, including Moreau, Klimt, Frankenthaler and Auerbach, Kollig’s imagery is abstract and explorative through the use of basic forms and colors. His paintings and mixed media drawings appear in many private and corporate collections.
