Jorge Marchand was born in Cerro de Pasco, Peru, in 1959 and he is one of the best contemporary artists emerging from Peru. He is the son of a miner and was not exposed to art until late in his teens, but Jorge has been emersed in his artistic endeavors ever since. After completing high school, he immigrated to Lima in order to attend art school. Jorge has experimented with many forms of art, including abstraction, but he has gained great acclaim for his figurative painting. His work is exhibited in some of the most prestigious galleries, including the Museum of Itailian Art, the Culture House of Lince, and the Congress Gallery.
