Kimmary MacLean

Kimmary MacLean was born into an incredibly talented family full of musicians, artists, and dancers. Her great-great-grandfather was the interior designer for the sultan’s palace in Istanbul; her grandfather was a professional violinist; her grandmother founded the National Ballet, Inc. in Maryland; her father was a talented painter with perfect musical pitch; her mother is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer for the National Ballet, Inc. It is no wonder MacLean has such varied and excellent artistic talents. In addition to dancing, teaching dance, and playing the piano, clarinet, and oboe, she is a remarkable painter and photographer.

MacLean’s artistic passions began when she was very young. As a child, she would spend hours at a time perfecting her drawings, while in her teenager years she would hide in her room to paint. After high school, she turned her then-hobby into a future career, earning two bachelor’s degrees at the University of Maryland, College Park. Both artistic and practical, MacLean has one degree in Studio Art and one in Accounting. She currently creates art in various media, including painting, drawing, photography, and digital art, including digital manipulation of her own photographs. Using swirling images and intriguing color schemes, MacLean creates expressive and fascinating artwork. Whether as pieces to be bought or sold, or as an expression of innermost feelings, or just as a way to enjoy color and form, MacLean’s work is exceptional.
