Kirk Rendelson

Kirk Rendelson was born in 1957, in Norfolk, Virginia. He attended the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. and the Art Institute of Design and Fashion in Georgia from 1976-1977. He also attended the Ringling School of Art and Design, graduating with faculty honors in Sarasota, Florida from 1980-1983. In 1980, while attending Ringling, he started to develope a new form of artistic impressionism. He began by mixing line and form to diffuse the realistic image. He entitled this new self-developed style "geometric impressionism". This is on public record at teh Ringling School of Art and Design Library. After graduating, he moved to New Jersey looking for new subject matter. He soon found himself on teh great boardwalks of the New Jesey Shore. He was fascinated with the carousels on the boardwalks. After learning of their history and already having a great interest in American art history, he found that the classical carousels and his own style of "geometric impressionism" mixed very nicely together.
