Since her youth, Laura Barat has been involved in the art world. Having traveled around the world and living what she calls a “bohemian lifestyle,” Barat has had the opportunity to study and experiment with various artistic media and styles. Since studying drawing and painting at Glendale College in Glendale California, she has lived in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Florida, and in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.

Barat’s technique as an artist is one of “pure consciousness.” She attempted to perceive the physical world as simply and purely as she can; by connecting with the “flow” of consciousness, she finds she is able to reproduce the world’s natural beauty with ease. As a result of this unorthodox method of artistry, Barat does not tie herself to any particularly art movement or style. Her methods and interests vary as she connects with a pure consciousness of the world around her.
