Born in North Carolina, Mia Stone and her family were involved in the restoration of old homes while she was growing up. Living in Charlotte with a very creative family, Stone explored her own creative interest, beginning with music before realizing her greatest pleasure lay in the visual arts. Stone studied liberal and fine arts at Florida State University where she began developing her talents, particularly with sculpting metal. Her paintings were well-received, as well, full of life and spontaneity. Stone left school to study in Prague and traveled Europe by motorcycle, granting her endless experiences that constantly inspire her art. When she returned to the United States, her work showed marked talent and expression, juxtaposing muted, earth tones and vibrant geometric shapes.

Stone began showing her art in marginal circles, playing music and exhibiting her work in underground warehouse parties and jazz clubs along the East Coast. She eventually opened her own studio in Atlanta, Georgia where she now sells her art.
