Michael Elkayam

Michael Elkayam, born in Morocco in 1954, comes from a family of scholars and craftsmen held in high esteem for their jewelry, calligraphy, copper relief inscriptions and ornaments. Elkayam moved to Israel with his family in 1956. He uses both classic and contemporary art techniques, capturing the epic elements and symbolism of Judiasm. His subjects focus on mysticism and other Jewish themes: Ritual objects, amulets, blessings, images from the Bible, the synagogue and Jewish home, holidays etc. Michael Elkayam is a member of the Israel Association of Artists and Sculptures and has exhibited his works extensively in Israel and abroad.
