Growing up in picturesque Rhode Island, artist Michael Williams discovered his artistic talent at a very young age. Primarily self-taught, Williams’s favorite subject to paint when he was younger were the beautiful beaches of his home state. Williams has been actively working as an artist for the past 20 years, and in order to help in the development of his natural talent, Williams partook in several tandem painting and drawing sessions with well-known contemporary artists.

Williams’s pieces are marked with heavy and intricate textures in a way that is modeled after the old masters. His process begins with a preliminary drawing in pastel pencils, and he slowly builds on this with paint. This way, he is able to give each of his painting a coveted light-infused quality: “I love the way the light dances off a subject in the late afternoon! Long shadows, rich tones, and powerful side light or back light are some of the elements I like to capture in a painting.”
