Nakisa Seika

Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1974, Nakisa Seika was raised in an environment that blended form and function, fantasy and commerciality. It was within this creative world that Seika pursued her artistic inclinations, and she went on to study painting at the Atlanta College of Art.

Seika’s Japanese heritage is a major focus within all of her artwork, utilizing shaded tones and delicate strokes. The same melding of fantasy and function that surrounded her in her youth appears in the imagery of her artwork, where ancient temples blend into stark cityscapes. She is also influenced and impressed by the art of other cultures; Picasso stands out in her mind, as she says, “he makes an amazing impression on a kid.”

Seika describes her artwork as ever-changing: “I’m sure I will not be satisfied with my work until the day I die. I am always refining my style, always improving.”
