Oksana Grineva

Oksana Grineva is a rising star in the Chicago art scene, gathering national and international attention each day. Born in Tomsk, Siberia, Grineva knew by the time she was only three years old that she loved to draw; she soon found endless opportunities to hone her talents during long, cold Russian winters at home. Passionate about her art, she enrolled at the Somkisha Art College in the Ukraine and after graduating studied at the Kharkov Art Academy. She later lived in Ankara, Turkey for three years, where her art was well-received, before moving to Chicago, Illinois in 1996, where she fell in love with the growing multicultural art scene.

Grineva’s work shows her personal flair combined with evidence of her highly-trained skill in traditional methods and materials. She continually challenges herself with interesting uses of color, composition, and lighting to create compelling artwork; more than simple paintings, she strives to make a statement with her art. Whether in her detailed, dramatic paintings of the Black Sea or her careful, impressive portraits of world leaders, it is apparent that Grineva is skilled and trained in portraiture, fine arts, mural painting, and design. Her artwork is collected and exhibited across the country and internationally in Texas, Arkansas, Illinois, and Ankara and Istanbul in Turkey. Grineva has also frequently been commissioned to paint murals in private homes, restaurants, corporate offices, and designer showrooms as she attracts more and more art enthusiasts. Even without the remarkable attention she has received, Grineva would have continued to paint, as she says, “My art is a reflection of my life. I love beauty in all its forms.”
