Growing up in Shevchenko, Kazakhstan, Oleg Katsevich dreamed of becoming an artist. As a young boy, Katsevich would whittle ship models from wood and sell them in the local stores. Completely self-taught, Katsevich never used blueprints for his works; his inspiration came solely from drawings and books. Eventually, Katsevich found his niche in woodworking: creating tribal-inspired wooden faces and masks. In 2007, Katsevich moved from Russia to the United States, where his art and artistic talent continues to thrive.
