Paramount Pictures

Paramount Pictures began in 1912 with the Famous Players Film Company, founded by Adolph Zukor. In addition to producing films, Zukor also developed his own chain of movie theaters as well as cultivate the popularity of the first “movie stars,” which included Clara Bow, Rudolph Valentino, and Mae West. During the 1930s, Paramount also expanded into animation, creating characters like Betty Boop and Popeye the Sailor. Paramount continued to make successful films over the decades, including The Odd Couple (1968), Saturday Night Fever (1977), and Fatal Attraction (1987). Paramount Pictures is one of the six major film studios, which includes subsidiaries like MTV Films and Nickelodeon Movies. The franchise can still be recognized by its famous logo: a snowy mountaintop.
