Like most children, Johnson's first audience was her family. With the confidence and recognition she received from her family, she continued working in the visual arts through college where she explored almost every medium. While in college a fantastic opportunity presented itself; travel the Pacific Rim for a year of school as part of an Asian Studies major. That experience and subsequent love for Japanese aesthetics and philosophy has had a great influence on her artistic expression.

Johnson's work continues to evolve, but her paintings remain inspired by nature, play, the moment, and problem resolution. They represent balance, fearlessness, strength, and optimism.
