Born in Minnesota in 1934, Wayne Ensrud has gained international acclaim as a painter and printmaker with remarkable influence on the world of art. Ensrud began his professional training at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and since then he has studied under master painters such as Ben Shahn, Joseph Albers, Jacques Lipchitz, and Oskar Kokoschka. Ensrud cites the latter’s influence for guiding him in the direct of nature and landscape, as well as the human figure and portraiture. With a wide range of artistic skill, Ensrud is also known for his non-objective abstract art, with which he increases his own and the viewers’ awareness of form, color, and assemblage.

Ensrud is also an influential voice in the world art community. He was the youngest Art Director of the Department of Motion Pictures for the University of California and he has been heavily involved with national radio, television, and film organizations and festivals. Ensrud has shown his artwork across the United States, Europe, and Japan and uses his travels throughout vineyards, cities, and countrysides to further explore and refine his paintings.
