Sasha Yutkin was born in 1964 in one of the largest industrial centers of Russia, a city called Gorky. Sasha's immediate and extended family all worked at a Russian car manufacturing plant. It was expected that Sasha would follow in his family's footsteps and work at the plant also, but he was consumed with drawing and painting as a child. Noticing his talent, his parents thought he might apply himself to car design, but Sasha was instead interested in painting still lifes and landscapes rather than industrial design.

In 1980 Sasha was accepted in the Gorky Art College and in 1984 graduated with honors. After college he served in the army, then worked as an art teacher. In 1990, after rigorous exams, Sasha was accepted into the best art academy of Eastern Europe, the St Petersburg Art Academy named after Ilia Repin. After graduation in 1995 he was accepted into a prestigious Artists Union of Russia. In 1995 he began taking part in Spring and Fall exhibitions of the Artists Union, and he participated in the annual exhibition of landscape artists of St Petersburg.

Sasha has since exhibited in: Murmansk, Russia; Lyon, France; and Belinson, Switzerland. His works are now in private collections in Russia, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
