Dimitri Polak (1922-2008) combines a sophisticated use of color, with an “Expressionist” approach to the application of pigment to the surface of his paintings and original graphic works. The surfaces of his paintings on canvas are built-up texturally, and exhibit an unusual relief quality that at once catches the eye, and also affects the colors that he layers (glazes) one upon the other. The effect is one of a shimmering light that plays throughout his warm and inviting landscapes. Collectors all over the world enjoy Polaks works, and he is now (in his ‘80’s) enjoying his greatest international recognition and acclaim.
