Richard Leung was born in 1961 in Hong Kong and immigrated with his family to California in 1975. Raised in a family of talented artists, he studied and trained with his father, H. Leung and his older brother, Thomas. In addition to this informal education, Leung studied art and photography at Laney College, where he majored in business and art. Leung’s landscape work is not as full of color and passion; he says he finds most of his inspiration in nature. As such, he travels extensively to study different scenery, forms, and color schemes. Leung also cites his Chinese heritage and the art history of that culture, “offering a lightness and spareness of subject.” Leung’s art is collected across the United States and all over the world.
