Alex Meilichson was born in Meridia, Venezuela. He immigrated to Israel in his teens, and studied sociology at Tel Aviv University. Meilichson now divides his time between Israel and New York and travels a great deal each year to Norway, Paris, and Provence, where he gains inspiration from the local people. His imagery derives from a world of imaginary and playful characters, immersed in their own sense of wonderment and glee. He uses a blend of exotic and bold colors, leaning toward the influence of the Fauves, primarily Matisse and Chagall. Alex has exhibited in Caracas, Venezuela, Moshe Monson Gallery in Jerusalem, and Art Expo New York.
