Born in Kildare, Ireland, Rory McDermott attended Jesus College in Cambridge, England, earning his degree in Fine Arts. He then went on to further his studies at Cambridge College of Art, majoring this time in Commercial Art. After leaving the academic world, Rory went on to work for some of the largest advertising agencies in the United Kingdom. Having lived in England and the United States, Rory has had the opportunity to further his education by visiting many of the world’s great art museums and art centers. An award winning illustrator commercially, Rory has a natural aptitude for painting. In the last six years, Rory has been working in Cyprus, as well as in other Mediterranean countries as a creative director, and it is there that he receives his greatest inspiration from the landscapes and villages located in the rural, mountainous areas. With vibrant energy and an emphasis on those same landscapes and villages, Rory and his vibrantly hued sweeping paths of color, infuse painting with a rarely seen before sense of sheer life. Now settled in the U.S., Rory McDermott’s work and reputation is ever expanding, ushering in a new, and exciting period in the artist’s creative life.
