Rosa Herrera Bates began painting later in life than most. She attended art school and worked diligently. Although school was a trying time, she quickly adapted to the demands. She graduated and later attended the ateliers of artist Luisi Art for 10 years. After that endeavor, Bates spent an additional 10 years apprenticing under John Bates.
