Sergey Goncharenko was born in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. In 1987 he became a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. In 1993 he went to university in Ukraine where he met his future wife Vera in an Environmental Science class trip safari. Their love for nature, and more specifically tigers, created their unique connection. The artistic couple maintains similar themes throughout their paintings, though their artistic styles vary.
