In addition to his abstract engravings, Stephen Kilar is well-known in France for his sculpture. Kilar was born in 1935 in Hungary and studied at the School of Fine Arts in Budapest, where he recieved two prizes for his sculptures. In 1957, he moved to France to study at L'Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts, Paris. Kilar has received several medals for his sculptures, including honors at the Paris Biennale in 1961. His award-winning sculpture in the Biennale was purchased by the Musee d'Art Moderne de Paris, His works have been exhibited at the Salon de Mai, Salon de la Jeune Sculpture, Paris, and Musee das Beaux Arts et Archeologique de Boulogne-sur-Mer, as other galleries.
