Susan I. Winter was born in 1944 in the rural community of Howell, New Jersey. She began developing her talents in the arts by doing set design for local high school plays. She pursued her art education at Monmouth College graduating in 1966 with her degree. In 1969 the artist returned to graduate school to teach handicapped children. Also working in the local hospitals, Miss Winter has created a program of arts and crafts in the pediatric units. She decided that her life's goal could be realized in fine arts. Since 1974, Winter has studied watercolor and her primary compositions are wild flowers and landscape-type scenery.
