Vincent George

Vincent George has been an artist since childhood. Growing up in Newburgh, New York, George created art through any means – he even created mock-canvases out of brown grocery bags. Inspired by nature, he spent his childhood summers hiking in the mountains, where he was always accompanied by a sketch pad. When he returned home, he would use paint to embellish these rough sketches. Finally, at age 17, George decided to make art his top priority. George spent a year at the Savannah College of Art & Design before transferring to The Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York after a year.

Living in Brooklyn provided great contrast to the rolling hills of his home, but George found ample inspiration in both regions. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from The Pratt Institute, but was not immediately able to fulfill his dream of painting full-time. Instead, he had to work many odd jobs to pay the bills, including a stint as an industrial designer.

Luckily, it was through the encouragement of his girlfriend Michelle that he finally decided to become a full-time artist. She convinced him that having a salaried "day job" was not the only path to becoming a successful artist. This inspiration is why George has said that “Meeting [Michelle] is when the best part of my life began.” George then returned to Georgia where he was reunited with nature.

George is always fine-tuning and improving his style, but painting will never be just a paycheck to George – each piece is an extension of himself, infused with his passion for the craft. Collectors are able to see his obvious dedication, which is what has made his work immensely popular.
