William Geldart

Growing up in Cheshire, England, William Geldart’s earliest memories were of drawing scenes of the neighboring woodlands. With art in his blood, Geldart even worked as a photographer with a Royal Air Force squadron based in Germany. When he was done with the National Service, Geldart attended the Regional College of Art in Manchester and worked a series of odd jobs before becoming Art Editor at the Cheshire Life Magazine. After six years as an art editor, Geldart decided to make art his full-time career, and in 1979 he officially became a professional artist.

Geldart’s favorite subjects to paint are scenes of northwest England as well as characters both real and imaginary. Geldart’s work has been exhibited extensively across the country, including in his own Geldart Gallery. His popularity is so immense that a BBC television documentary has even been made about Geldart’s life and work.
