Zhi Rong Liu was born in 1967 in the Chinese province of Jilin. The daughter of civil servants, Zhi Rong was fortunate to attend medical school and now practices as a general physician in the Liaoning Province. It is there that she has been crafting exquisite works of art for the past ten years. A devotee to the “less is more” philosophy of the East, Zi Rong is especially known for her collages on canvas that incorporate the simple elements of rice paper and paint. Indeed, it is the lyrical simplicity of these collages that have evoked such strong responses from art collector both in the East and, now in the West. Her “Change Cycle” series has been especially well received; Liu combined organic elements and shapes that work together to evoke thoughts of seeds, roads, and rivers. Original and elegant, Zhi Rong’s work is rich with understated, enigmatic, and organic strength.
