Bonny Leibowitz

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bonny Leibowitz always fostered a passion for the visual arts. Leibowitz attended the College of Art at Temple University where she studied painting and drawing and picked up the technical training that she so skillfully applies to her personal style. She moved to Dallas, Texas after finishing her studies, which is where she has her first solo exhibition in 1986. The success of this show led to many others in Santa Fe, St. Louis, Palm Springs, Honolulu, Newport Beach, Denver, and Las Vegas. Leibowitz has also spent years as a graphic artist and working in galleries, which provides her with the opportunity to master color theory and study hundreds of artists’ work.

These varied experiences have allowed Leibowitz to create a unique and impressive style of artwork. Her pastel and oil pieces depict what has been called the “interconnectedness of life’s experience” and “an evolution into one’s deepening spiritual self.” These vague, flowery statements describe Leibowitz’s paintings well, as they often have an ethereal quality. With languid, flowing lines that seem to be blown by the wind and the powerful, almost supernatural beauty of horses and their riders make her work seem like something from another world. Airy and colorful, there is an organic sense of freedom in her work as birds, horses, and women soar imaginatively in a timeless landscape.

In addition to her countless successful exhibitions, Bonny Leibowitz’s work is collected all across the United States and in Europe. It has also been features in numerous publications including Southwest Art, Inform Art, and Equine Images, among others, and it has graced the covers of several college programs and books.
