Denis Jully was born in Mulhouse (Strasbourg, France), the middle of the Alsatian textile industry. He was trained extensively as a fabrics maker. He founded the government factories of the Shah of Iran. Jully’s artistry shows traits of the Rhine school. His canvases are filled with the sentiment of nature. In his own works he considers his work as “allusive imagining,” often drawing inspiration from his travels and the years he lived in Africa or Iran.
