Dion Salvador Lloyd

Dion Salvador Lloyd came from an artistic family and was surrounded by creativity and artistic influences since birth; even his middle name was taken from the famous Salvador Dali. Lloyd’s father was a sculptor, and Lloyd often dreamed of being able to show his paintings next to his father’s work in Green Park, London. Though eventually he was would achieve this dream, Lloyd’s natural artistic talent was unfortunately pushed aside for 14 years after failing his Art ‘O’ Level in school. During this sabbatical, Lloyd had a successful career in catering, and only decided to return to painting after he lost everything in a fire. After the fire, Lloyd decided, after some soul searching, that he would start painting full-time. In the beginning, Lloyd exhibited his work outside, open for both positive and negative criticism from anonymous passersby. Though would be a difficult environment for an artist to grow, Lloyd only became more disciplined and focused on his craft.

Lloyd is almost entirely self-taught, which makes his landscapes and skyscapes all the more astounding. Stylistically influenced by the work of Turner and Dali, Lloyd attempts “to make work that people can fall into.”
