Dorthea Travers was born in Freehold, New Jersey. Before becoming a professional painter, Dorthea was a master print maker with American Atelier in New York City. While she was a print maker, Travers worked on many of the Picasso pieces that were reproduced after his death. She started her journey into art by painting country scenes and then went on to paint cityscapes as well.
