Dorothy Yung

Daughter of a prominent industrialist family in Shanghai, China, Dorothy Yung left China in 1949 with her family, first for Hong Kong, and then later for Brazil. In 1958, she came to the U.S, to study art at Garland College in Massachusetts. Influenced by the Impressionist and Cubist masters, Yung created her own, intensely personal artistic style. Rhythms and shapes, depth and movement are evident in her paintings. Her brush strokes are bold and fluid and her colors are clean and exiting. She leads the viewer into her expressive world. The work of Dorothy Yung can be found in the Highland Park Art Center in New Jersey, as well as in shows throughout the east coast and in private collections across the country.
