American artist H. Alters (a.k.a. Z. Michaels) was born in 1948 and began studying art at an early age. While still a child, Alters soon had the help and teaching of his father, who himself was a talented painter, and who began supervising his gifted son's artistic growth. Years later, Alters has remained a well-known artist specializing in delicate seascapes.
